Contributing Member Applicants

Contributing (Non-Fire Active) Members provide valuable services to the fire company and the community by performing a variety of non-emergency functions such as fundraising, fire and life safety education, and administrative support, serving on various committees. They serve as part of a support team that fosters, promotes and contributes to the success of our organization.

Steps to becoming a Contributing Member

APPLICANTS:

  • Applicants must be age 18 or older and of sound body and mind to apply
  • Complete our online inquiry form and a fire department representative will follow up with you to discuss expectations and step you through our recruitment process
  • Applicants must complete and submit Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background and Child Abuse Check forms, and a Fire Department application. Links to the appropriate forms and instructions will be forwarded to you upon submission of our online inquiry form. There are no costs for the completion of the background checks. There is a $10 application fee payable to the fire company.

CANDIDATES:

Upon receipt of all required forms by the fire company, our officers will:

  • Review the application
  • Schedule and conduct a tour with the candidate for membership
  • Schedule and conduct an in-person interview with the candidate for membership
  • Candidates must be appointed to membership by a 2/3 majority vote of the fire company membership present at a regular meeting, contingent upon:
    • Accurate completion of all required forms
    • Positive outcomes from the interview
    • Positive outcomes from all background checks

RECRUITS:

Following appointment by the fire company, the new member will be introduced and invited to sign the membership book of the corporation
Upon acceptance into membership, the new recruit will be:

  • Designated as a Probationary Member for a minimum of six (6) months

EXPECTATIONS:
Contributing Members are expected to

  • Serve on at least 1 committee
  • Attend at least 50% of all company meetings and committee related activities
